Perfect Vision Starts With A Healthy Eye.

From Retinal Tears to Intraocular Tumors, We're Connecticut's Specialist
In Treating Diseases and Disorders of The Eye.

Thousands of Connecticut residents have come to us with problems ranging from simple retinal tears to more advanced diseases. Nothing is more important to us than the health of our patients' eyes.

The human eye is a marvel of nature, with many parts that work together to provide clear vision. So how do you see? Think of your eye as a film camera. Light goes through the lens (the cornea, pupil and lens of your eye), then gets focused on the film inside the rear wall of the camera (the retina and macula of your eye). In a camera, when the light hits the film, you take a picture. In your eye, when light goes through the cornea and pupil, it passes through a space in the middle of the eye called the vitreous. Next, it focuses on the retinal tissue at the rear of the eye, and a "picture" is sent through the optic nerve to the brain. That's how you see what you're looking at.

The doctors at New England Retina Associates specialize in treating diseases and injuries related to the rear portion of the eye and the film part of your eye camera, the retina, the macula and the vitreous, and tumors growing in the eye.
